Hi and welcome to my blog! I’d like to first take this time to introduce myself- my name is Amanda Hoempler and I’m a writer from New Jersey. Yes, dirty Jerz. But, I don’t fist pump. I don’t say “Joisey”. I can give you the exit you get off at to get to my house. Bon Jovi- love him. And I’m both a pizza and bagel snob.
Now that that’s out of the way—a little background info for those who care. I went to school at Pace University in NYC and got my bachelor’s in English. I also minored in Photography. When I decided on those two, I figured it would take me to photojournalism land… but nah… I was a creative writer. I tried my hand at other majors because the ultimate goal was to survive on more than ramen noodles and mac n’ cheese… nothing stuck. My heart is here- I needed to write. So, after graduating, I moved to Savannah, GA (yes, I left NYC- love makes you do wild and crazy things…) and stumbled upon great opportunities working for magazines. I realized that this creative writer could find her a home in marketing departments and make a good living- amazing, whooda thunk, and all the rest of it. After our time in Savannah, we moved to Texas, where I worked in a marketing department for a large credit union. While I was there, I had a baby- and he changed it all. I decided to quit the job I loved to be a full time mother to him. Then, we moved to Ohio and soon after came another munchkin. It was then I realized that I wanted both- a great career and be home for them when they got off the bus. And, Amanda Hoempler Copywriting was born.
I specialize in the financial industry because that’s where the majority of my experience is and writing copy for them is fun (for me, anyway). But after having my kids, I realized that I love talking about babies, reading about babies, and advocating for babies (and kiddos, of course). So, I’m currently expanding my niche and specialty to the baby and child industry.
Basically, this blog will be about copywriting in general- tips… quips… Every now and again I’ll opine (check that) about current events related to my area of expertise, but not very often. I’ll always stay away from politics, religion, and controversy- unless is absolutely necessary to unload.
Other than that, nice to meet you.
